Abstract
The article analyses the disregard for the institutional roles in the populist strategy of the leader of "There is such a nation" (ITN) Slavi Trifonov during the first stage of the development of the political crisis that started after the parliamentary elections of April 4, 2021. The strategy is seen as a combination of discursive and mobilisation techniques that Trifonov is using to deepen the crisis, to transgress the existing institutional constraints, to question the effective functioning of the mechanisms of representative democracy and to cause destabilisation of the political system.
