Abstract

With the first bulgarian Drug Strategy from 2003, psychosocial rehabilitation measures aimed at persons dependent on narcotic substances were foreseen. Twenty years later, there is no established system and no residential state-funded programs for the resocialization of addicts, resulting in a high rate of relapse after detoxification and therapy. There are many best and promising practices on a European and global scale that could be successfully implemented in the Bulgarian health and social system.
