Abstract

The article compares three particular state budgets of Bulgaria (in 1897, 1992 and 2021) on several key parameters, covering a period of over 120 years. The most characteristic change over the years is the entry of the state into the daily lives of citizens and the allocation of funds for almost every aspect of their lives. Parts from the income and expenditure side appear and disappear, and the priorities of the society and the governors change. The security of the population remains the largest expenditure, but the understanding of security is undergoing serious changes.
