INTERESTS: THE “HOLY GRAIL” OF SOCIAL AND HUMAN SCIENCES

The concept of interest is frequently and easily used in different fields and contexts. The typical deficit in most texts is the lack of sociological or historical semantics. This article addresses some popular views about the use and usefulness of the concept of interest in sociology, psychology, political and administrative studies. Finally, some principal controversies about contemporary application of the concept of interest are outlined.
