Abstract

The rapid digital transformation of healthcare has significantly reshaped human resource management practices, creating new opportunities and challenges for healthcare organizations. Within this context, digital nudging has emerged as a behavioral strategy that uses digital technologies and interface design to influence employee behavior in subtle and non-coercive ways. This article explores the role of digital nudging in healthcare human resource management by examining its theoretical foundations, practical applications, and ethical implications. Particular attention is given to the use of digital nudges in employee wellness initiatives, burnout prevention, professional development, recruitment, scheduling, and organizational communication. The study highlights how digital interventions integrated into healthcare systems may contribute to improved employee engagement, workflow efficiency, and organizational performance. At the same time, the article adopts a critical perspective by discussing concerns related to employee autonomy, privacy, surveillance, digital fatigue, and algorithmic bias. The analysis suggests that although digital nudging may support healthcare professionals in demanding work environments, it cannot replace broader structural reforms addressing workforce shortages, excessive workloads, and organizational pressures. The article concludes that the effectiveness of digital nudging depends largely on ethical implementation, transparency, and respect for professional autonomy. Consequently, healthcare organizations must balance technological innovation with human-centered values in order to ensure that digital transformation contributes not only to organizational efficiency but also to the well-being and dignity of healthcare workers.
